Mangatahi is situated on the southern alluvial river terraces of the Ngaruroro river. The soils are sandy loam over alluvial gravels with ferrous content (‘red metals’).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2026 season gave us a dry summer and autumn yielding beautifully clean, vibrant and juicy Sangiovese grapes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWinemaking\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHand-picked and foot stomped in situ. The Sangiovese had 6 hours of skin contact before being pressed and racked to large format barrel for indigenous fermentation and malolactic fermentation. Blended with a teeny amount of Pinot Noir (made as a white wine) before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTasting Notes\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003ePomegranate, peach and rose petal. Bright and lively, with a burst of cranberry, citrusy freshness and a lovely, mouthwatering pull through the palate.
